Western Australian Professional Development Forums

The Australasian Fleet Management Association organises a Professional Development Forum program for Western Australia throughout 2017. This event kicks off with breakfast and follows with discussions on topics chosen by the Chapter Committee based on members needs. They are an ideal way of staying abreast of topical issues, networking with fellow fleet managers, connecting with potential clients, entertaining and reaffirming existing clients or taking the first step in discovering what it is like to be an AfMA Member. We encourage you to contact the office if you have any questions about this event.

Who Should Attend
Fleet managers, fleet coordinators, fleet administrators and any individual working to manage an organisation's vehicles. You should also bring your upper management team, so they'll be aware of the issues you face and need to plan for in the future.

Topic 1

Action, Lights, Cameras - The Grim Reality of Road Crime Investigation.

Presented by: Stuart McGregor

Actually picture one of your workers dying or killing another road user in a fleet vehicle accident. Victoria Police's Stuart McGregor is very succinct about what happens next, regardless of state borders.
“My boys are well versed at establishing how fast you were going, whether you were distracted, what was happening. We will seize your phone - and we have legal powers to tap your phone - we gather CCTV footage for kilometres before an accident and it's amazing how much CCTV footage is out there.”
If you're fortunate enough to not have been in this situation before, this is a chance to look hypothetically at the worst case scenario, so you know how to prevent against it.

Topic 2

MoneyTalks - Fringe Benefit Tax Updates & Lease Accounting Standards

Presented by: Andras Berta and Andy Larmour

Andras and Andy are ready for talking you through the changes to lease accounting standards and the potential impact your business. They'll discuss impacts on both lessor and lessees, the separation of lease/non-lease components, practical implications, financial, operation and business impacts, plus transition accounting and effective dates.
Fringe benefits tax is often complex and time consuming. But it's necessary. In order to ensure you comply with your obligations, it's crucial to take steps in collating the required information/documentation. The KPMG team will provide delegates with an update on legislative changes, tips and reminders, key areas of interest, technology and how it can simplify your FBT reporting.
