5 great reasons to join AfMA’s 2019 AFL Tipping Comp

By March 15, 2019News

As the sun sets on a long warm summer we turn our attention to perhaps the best thing winter has going for it – the return of our favourite football codes. The NRL season kicked off last night and the AFL season is set to launch this Thursday and we’d love you to be part of the action by joining AfMA’s official 2019 AFL Tipping Competition.

But why should you and your office join us in 2019? Here’s 5 great reasons to get involved.

1. Network and compete against members and guests from right around Australasia

We’ve opened this year’s competition to members and guests from everyone from Adelaide to Albury to Auckland in a bid to see who in AfMA knows the most about Aussie Rules. This is a chance to see where you stack up on the ladder and possibly provide new opportunities to connect with other members in the process!

2. Win some great prize money!

AfMA is proud to offer over $1000+ in prize money, which will continue to grow depending on how many players (registration costs just $10 per player). The prizes available will be as follows:

1st Prize:
$500 (members pool) + 50% of player pool
2nd Prize:
$300 (members pool) + 30% of player pool
3rd Prize:
$200 (members pool) + 20% of player pool

Last Place:
Branded Wooden Spoon

To qualify for the members’ pool your organisation will need to be an active member of AfMA, but guests are also welcome to play and compete for the players’ pool.

3. Compete against your organisation in your own mini-comp and dedicated mini-ladder

Organisations that register at least 3 people in our comp will be featured in their own mini ladder to see how they compares with others. Each week AfMA will also publicise the Top 5 organisations and individual players on our LinkedIn and Facebook social networks – which represents an easy form of visual promotion for your organisation as well.

4. It makes watching the footy more fun!

It is “statistically proven” that watching the AFL is more fun when you have a vested interest in the result. Get your tips in each week and stay up to date with the latest results during the weekend, and then compare how you did when you head back into the office on Monday morning.

5. Bragging rights

If nothing else, who doesn’t secretly love having office bragging rights? If you’re anything like us, then surely there’s nothing more satisfying than beating the self-confessed footy “expert” while being a complete novice yourself! The fleet industry can be at times somewhat dry, so this is our chance to have some fun and network with each other a bit across the year. We’d love your support on this initiative as we seek to draw our industry closer together!

Please Note: We certainly haven’t forgotten about our rugby league fans and will look to potentially include a separate NRL comp in 2020, depending on the success of the AFL one this year.

How to get involved

The first and most important step is to get you and your office registered and tipping before the season launch on Thursday March 21st.

Payment will be required by the end of Round 3 (April 7) and ways to pay will be communicated to members in the coming weeks.

Comp Name: AfMA Fleet Industry
Password: fleet

When signing up you will have the option to link your account to an organisation. If your organisation is not displayed please select “A. Other/Not Listed” and AfMA will add them to the list once you have at least two other people from your organisation also playing (i.e – minimum of 3 tippers).

Please note, you can still get involved and not pay but you will not be eligible for the prizes at the end of the season.

For any general questions about the competition contact Daniel Braid directly at daniel.braid@afma.net.au
